- Conducting necessary studies to identify the research and investigative needs of the university, taking into account the industrial, economic, social, and cultural policies of the country, through the collection and calculation of relevant indicators and criteria, and making decisions regarding research activities.
- Evaluating research and investigative projects conducted by faculty members in terms of quality and estimated costs.
- Preparing, organizing, and compiling statistics and information on completed and ongoing projects, and submitting them to the relevant authorities.
- Providing the necessary facilities, equipment, and supplies for projects in collaboration with the respective units.
- Managing all affairs related to the conclusion of research contracts and taking necessary actions for their implementation.
- Establishing connections with the scientific, industrial, and economic hubs of the country to identify their research and educational projects as well as their required specialized personnel.
- Introducing the scientific and research facilities, as well as the potential capabilities of the university, to society.
- Collecting scientific and industrial projects tailored to the needs of industries and various sectors of society for the benefit of students at different academic levels, managing affairs related to research projects, and identifying short-term and long-term specialized courses required by the country's industrial sectors.
- Inviting researchers and scientists from various countries to participate in scientific-research conferences and seminars at the university, in collaboration with the relevant units.
- Collaborating and coordinating research activities among faculties and various research and executive units.
- Conducting necessary studies regarding the development or modification of research programs to align them with the needs of society.
- Evaluating the progress of research activities within the framework of approved policies.
- Reviewing and proposing the required budget allocations for research units based on designated programs.
- Organizing scientific seminars and conferences, and planning and coordinating the presentation of scientific papers by university faculty members at international and regional conferences abroad, in collaboration with the relevant university units.
- Managing affairs related to sabbatical leaves and scientific journeys, and supervising the academic affairs of faculty members in coordination with the relevant units.
- Organizing, identifying, and introducing the research and technological equipment, devices, and tools available at the university.
- Providing research and technological services to all departments and faculties of the university, as well as other research and technology centers in the province.
- Providing research and technological services to executive agencies, students, and researchers in the province or neighboring provinces to support the country's research infrastructure.
- Determining the type, extent, and necessary costs for the optimal provision of research and technological services through the efficient utilization of equipment, tools, and devices available in the laboratory.
- Maintaining and safeguarding the equipment of the central laboratory.
- Collaborating with subsidiary laboratories in faculties and other institutions.
- Supporting the laboratory equipment of specialized laboratories located in each of the departments and faculties.
- Paving the way for the implementation of macro and approved national, provincial, and university projects.
- Collecting necessary information regarding all research needs and projects of the university, and reviewing and organizing the collected data.
- Serving as the secretariat of the University Research Council and organizing and drafting the resolutions of this council.
- Performing other duties assigned by higher authorities.
