Dr. Ali Haj Yousefi
A Brief Account of Their Rich Life
Dr. Ali Haj Yousefi (born 1938), a distinguished professor, researcher, and planning expert, was born in Tehran. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Sciences from the University of Tehran before continuing his studies in France. In 1971, Dr. Haj Yousefi obtained a Master's degree in Development Studies from the University of Paris, followed by a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Sorbonne in 1974.
Beginning in 1961, he worked as a senior expert at the Plan and Budget Organization, where he played a key role in preparing the Fourth and Fifth pre-revolution development plans and the First through Fourth post-revolution development plans. His regional studies resulted in comprehensive research reports on the potentials, constraints, and development strategies for 16 provinces of the country.
In addition to his work at the Plan and Budget Organization, Dr. Haj Yousefi maintained a continuous collaboration with the Institute for Social Studies and Research at the University of Tehran. As a visiting professor, he taught courses on development planning, regional development, and land-use planning at prestigious universities such as Tehran, Shahid Beheshti, Allameh Tabataba'i, and the Industrial Management Institute. He was also active in translating specialized books, including Urban Sociology and The Theory of Economic Planning.
Dr. Haj Yousefi, a patriot with a deep love for Iran's people, culture, and development, graciously donated his personal and valuable library, consisting of 410 specialized books, to the Central Library of the University of Kurdistan.
