Abdolkarim Khan Ardalan

A Brief Account of Their Rich Life

Abdolkarim Khan Ardalan was born on December 2, 1932, in Tehran. He completed his Master's degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. In 1958, along with three of his architect friends, he founded the "Group 4" consulting engineering company, which quickly became one of the most prominent architectural firms in Iran, particularly renowned for hospital design. In 1970, Ardalan received a scholarship from the Polytechnic of London, earning a diploma in hospital design and planning. His designs were not limited to hospitals and included numerous educational institutions, hotels, and government buildings throughout Iran.

In addition to architecture, Abdolkarim Khan Ardalan was a talented artist, excelling in painting and especially calligraphy. His calligraphic works, which he began learning from his father at a young age, were exhibited in Tehran and various cities in the United States. He was known for his philanthropic, cheerful, benevolent, and wise character, and was beloved and respected by all who knew him. He passed away from a heart condition in Tehran on August 31, 2008.

The late Abdolkarim Khan Ardalan had a deep love for Iranian culture, history, and art, and his personal library contained valuable specialized books in the fields of architecture and art. After his passing, his esteemed wife, Ms. Parvin-dokht Ardalan, and their children graciously donated this precious legacy to the Central Library of the University of Kurdistan. The donated collection includes 710 specialized Persian books and 112 English books.

The University of Kurdistan Supporters Foundation honors this valuable gift from the esteemed Ardalan family and will forever cherish his memory.
