Goals, Vision and Mission

Goals

The Faculty of Natural Resources at the University of Kurdistan, leveraging its specialized human capital, educational and research facilities, and its unique geographical location in the Zagros region, pursues the following objectives:

  1. Training Specialized and Committed Human Resources: To provide scientific and practical education aimed at cultivating capable, responsible graduates who are knowledgeable about the environmental and natural resource challenges facing the country.

  2. Responding to Regional and National Needs: To conduct research and projects relevant to environmental and natural resource issues and to offer scientific solutions for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable utilization of these resources.

  3. Promoting a Culture of Natural Resource Conservation: To raise public and professional awareness regarding the importance of natural resources and the environment through educational and promotional activities, as well as collaboration with executive bodies and local communities.

Vision

By the horizon of 2031, the Faculty of Natural Resources at the University of Kurdistan will be a leading institution in education, research, and the development of new technologies in the field of natural resources and the environment. It will emphasize the sustainable conservation and use of natural resources, promote indigenous knowledge, play an effective role in solving regional and national environmental issues, and become one of the accredited scientific hubs in western Iran for natural resources.

Missions

  1. Enhancing the Quality of Education:

    • Continuously updating curricula based on national and international standards.

    • Training capable, entrepreneurial, and responsible graduates in the field of natural resources.

  2. Developing Applied and Interdisciplinary Research:

    • Focusing on research projects related to the natural resources of the Zagros region in particular.

    • Increasing collaboration with national executive and research organizations in the management of natural resources, water, soil, and vegetation.

  3. Expanding National and International Collaborations:

    • Creating platforms for cooperation with reputable domestic and international universities and scientific centers.

    • Attracting international faculty and students.

  4. Playing an Effective Role in Regional Sustainable Development:

    • Providing scientific solutions for conserving natural resources, combating desertification, and addressing climate change.

    • Supporting local communities and natural resource users through specialized training and scientific consultation.

  5. Strengthening Scientific and Laboratory Infrastructure:

    • Developing specialized laboratories, a research farm, and study stations.

    • Equipping the faculty with modern technologies in the fields of Remote Sensing, GIS, and UAVs (drones).
