The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kurdistan started its work in 1994 by admitting students in the field of Electrical Engineering, and the following year with Civil Engineering, and over the past years, it has had a suitable growth and development trend. Currently, this faculty is operating with 8 academic departments: Electrical Engineering (Electronics and Communications), Electrical Engineering (Power and Control), Computer and Information Technology Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mining Engineering, within the framework of four buildings for departments and classrooms, as well as workshop and laboratory halls with an infrastructure of approximately 18,000 square meters.
Training specialized personnel in various engineering fields, needed by industry and society at national and regional levels, relying on the capabilities of 78 faculty members, in the form of diverse academic disciplines at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, is among the main goals of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kurdistan. The existence of active educational and research laboratories, conducting research at the frontiers of knowledge, producing significant research outputs including publishing articles and books in reputable journals, and carrying out notable research projects related to regional and national industries, are in line with realizing the vision of moving towards becoming a distinguished faculty in the western region of the country.
The firm belief of this institution is that deep and fundamental education is a prerequisite for original and applied research. Accordingly, the ultimate effort of our colleagues in this institution is to train and educate capable and efficient graduates in the field of research and industry.
