Workshop on "Iran's Demographic Problematic" Held at the University of Kurdistan
The educational workshop titled "Iran's Demographic Problematic: Current Status and Future Prospects" was held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Ferdowsi Hall of the University of Kurdistan.
According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the workshop featured a presentation by Dr. Saeed Khani, a faculty member of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Humanities. The session examined the most significant demographic shifts in the country, the current state of Iran's population, and the challenges ahead.
The meeting addressed various topics, including the decline in fertility rates, population aging, changes in family structure, and the social, economic, and cultural consequences of demographic transitions, as well as future population projections for the country.
The workshop aimed to provide an understanding of the diverse dimensions of demography, emphasizing that the concept of population is not merely a statistical indicator. It encompasses broader dimensions such as fertility, birth and death rates, internal and external migration patterns, and the trend of population aging—all of which significantly impact the social, cultural, economic, health, and political spheres of the nation.
