Staff Councils of Region Five State Universities Convene:

University Staff Play a Pivotal Role in Advancing Academic and Research Missions

The Chairman of the National Central Employee Councils stated that university staff have consistently played a vital role in advancing the educational, research, and executive missions of academic institutions. He expressed hope that through enhanced constructive engagement, the realization of legal demands and the improvement of service conditions would be facilitated.

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, Mehdi Jahanbakhshi, speaking on Thursday, June 18, 2026, highlighted the ongoing pursuit of university staff demands. He noted that over the past months, numerous meetings and correspondences have been conducted with regulatory and responsible bodies, resulting in many concerns and demands being addressed and reviewed.

He further elaborated on the issues pursued by the Employee Council of Universities Nationwide, adding: "Revising administrative titles and terminology to elevate the professional status and dignity of university staff, pursuing staff housing initiatives, and amending as well as updating regulations pertaining to the staff sector are among the key demands pursued over the past year."

The Chairman of the National Central Employee Councils emphasized that effective actions and follow-ups have been undertaken at the ministerial and relevant agency levels regarding some of these demands. He stressed that the council remains committed to expert-level dialogue and constructive interaction to achieve practical results.

In conclusion, he reiterated that university employees have always been essential to the advancement of university missions. He expressed optimism that by strengthening cooperation and convening specialized sessions, the necessary framework for fulfilling legal rights and improving service conditions will be further established.
