The nationwide webinar titled "University Participation in the Reconstruction of War-Damaged Industries" emphasized the pivotal role of universities and research institutes in damage assessment and the provision of scientific solutions to accelerate the revitalization and reconstruction of affected industrial units.

University Participation in the Reconstruction of War-Damaged Industries

According to the Public Relations of the University of Kurdistan, the webinar on the participation of universities in the reconstruction of war-damaged industries was held on Monday, May 18, 2026, featuring participation from academic institutions across the country.

During the session, the necessity of involving the nation's universities and research centers in the process of rebuilding and restoring industrial units damaged by war was underscored.

Participants highlighted the scientific and technical capacities of universities, stressing the importance of utilizing the expertise of faculty members, researchers, and research centers in damage assessment, consultancy, and the presentation of modern scientific strategies for the recovery of the country's industries.

Emphasis on Forming a Specialized Task Force for the Reconstruction of Damaged Industries in Kurdistan

Masoud Ebrahimi, Director of the Industry-Society Relations Center at the University of Kurdistan, stated that the objective of the webinar was to assist in the restoration and reconstruction of factories, industries, and units damaged during the "Third Imposed War."

Noting that the webinar was organized by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, he added: "During this session, scientific approaches to strengthen the link between universities and research institutes with the industrial sector were examined, and the utilization of the country's scientific potential in the reconstruction process was emphasized."

Ebrahimi further remarked: "Concurrent with the national webinar, a meeting was held at the University of Kurdistan's Research Vice-Presidency with the presence of the Labor Basij, representatives from the Department of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, and university research directors. Participants discussed executive strategies and the leveraging of the University of Kurdistan's capacities toward the revitalization of damaged industrial and production units within the province."

The Director of the Industry-Society Relations Center at the University of Kurdistan continued: "It was decided during this meeting to establish a specialized task force comprising the Department of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, the National Elites Foundation, Jihad Agriculture, the Technical and Vocational Training Organization, and other relevant bodies. This initiative aims to accelerate factory reconstruction while facilitating workforce training and the effective application of academic capabilities."

He concluded: "The formation of this task force can contribute to the coordination between executive and scientific institutions in the province, accelerating the reconstruction process and the return of industrial units to the production cycle."
