President of the Iran National Science Foundation Meets with Provincial University Officials and University of Kurdistan Faculty

The President of the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF), during a meeting with the presidents and research deputies of provincial universities, as well as faculty members and researchers of the University of Kurdistan, detailed the foundation's programs and research supports, emphasizing the necessity of increasing provincial researchers' participation in support calls.

According to the University of Kurdistan Public Relations, the meeting was held on Monday, August 24, 2026, attended by Mohammad Reza Hormozinejad, President of INSF, the President of the University of Kurdistan and his deputies, and a group of academics and faculty members in the university's meeting hall. During the session, the most significant programs and support capacities of the foundation were outlined.

Hormozinejad also announced support for projects related to emerging fields and scientific and technological drivers, stating that calls in these areas will be published soon and inviting interested parties to participate.

The President of the Iran National Science Foundation stated that a significant portion of the foundation's support is allocated to doctoral dissertations, postdoctoral fellowships, and research projects, noting: "The foundation's approach is competitive; however, in some programs, the competitive scope is more limited to allow a greater number of researchers to benefit from the supports."

Referring to the research potential of Kurdistan Province, Hormozinejad cited the current amount of support received by the province at approximately 33 billion Tomans, adding: "This figure must increase significantly given the scientific and research capacity of the province, particularly the University of Kurdistan."

At the conclusion of the meeting, faculty members and researchers raised their questions and perspectives regarding the utilization of foundation supports, which were addressed by the foundation's officials.
