The Governor of Kurdistan, while commending the collective efforts of the university community, stated that the provincial management will spare no effort in supporting the University of Kurdistan. He emphasized that strengthening and supporting the university constitutes a strategic investment in the multi-sectoral development of the province.

According to the University of Kurdistan Public Relations Office, Arash Zare-tan Lehoni addressed the University Council session held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Acknowledging the current limitations regarding physical space and infrastructure, he remarked: "The primary assets of this university are its distinguished, high-caliber faculty members and its talented student body."

He further noted: "This recognition of human capital does not imply a disregard for physical infrastructure. On the contrary, providing adequate facilities and robust infrastructure is essential for the full realization of the university's scientific potential."

The Governor underscored that the provincial administration is committed to utilizing all available resources to support the University of Kurdistan, reiterating that aiding the university directly facilitates the province's broader development goals.

Referring to national budgetary constraints, he added: "The current economic conditions and credit challenges are evident to all; however, the provincial leadership will persist in its efforts to secure the necessary support and will remain a steadfast partner to the University of Kurdistan."

Regarding the issue of faculty housing, the Governor stated: "This matter is of paramount importance and must be prioritized. Consequently, the government’s share in allocating housing for faculty members will be pursued through specialized channels, and we insist that this issue remains a serious item on the administrative agenda."

Zare-tan Lehoni also commented on the establishment of the Saqqez Faculty, noting: "As a historical center and the second-largest city in the province, Saqqez deserves an independent university. Therefore, collective efforts must be made to ensure that this city achieves university independence in the future."

Emphasizing student recruitment for the new faculty, he added: "Every effort must be made to ensure the Saqqez Faculty is fully operational and ready to admit students by October 2027."

Following the session, the Governor of Kurdistan, accompanied by his deputies and the University President, conducted a formal inspection of the university campus and its facilities.
