Announcement Regarding Undergraduate Major Change

This is to inform all undergraduate students that the application period for changing majors (either internal or involving a transfer) will commence on January 24, 2026 (1404/11/04) and conclude on February 1, 2026 (1404/11/12). Applicants must submit their requests through the Service Counter of the Golestan System. Adherence to the following conditions is mandatory:

  1. Achievement of the minimum required national entrance exam score for the requested major (to be verified by the academic registrar).

  2. Completion of a minimum of one-sixth and a maximum of two-thirds of the total credits required in the initial major.

  3. Official approval from both the originating and destination academic departments.

  4. Transfer from tuition-based (evening/Shabaneh) sessions to tuition-free (daily/Ruzaneh) sessions is prohibited.

  5. Transfer from non-exam (record-based) majors to exam-based majors is prohibited.

  6. Major change or transfer is permitted only once during the entire course of study.

  7. Final results will be announced by February 9, 2026 (20 Bahman).

Important Reminders:

  • Students are permitted to submit only one request. The specific major code must be extracted from the admission handbook of their initial entry year (available on the National Organization for Educational Testing website).

  • Due to potential discrepancies in curricula, students may face credit selection limitations, which could delay graduation.

  • Academic ranking and cohorts are determined by the initial year of admission. For instance, a student admitted in October 2024 will remain in that cohort regardless of a major change. Failure to complete three-quarters of the curriculum by the end of the sixth semester or graduation beyond eight semesters will result in the loss of eligibility for non-exam (Talented Student) admission to Master’s programs.

  • Male students subject to military service are responsible for updating their educational exemption status to reflect the new major.
