Abdolhossein Ehsani
A Brief Account of Their Rich Life
Abdolhossein Ehsani (1922-2006) was born in the Pamenar neighborhood of Tehran. In high school, he was a student of Nima Yooshij and Bozorg Alavi, and at university, he studied literature and philosophy under the tutelage of prominent figures such as Allameh Dehkhoda and Mojtaba Minovi. After graduating with a Master's degree in Sociology, he joined the Ministry of Finance and served for a time as the CEO of Northern Fisheries. After retirement, he practiced law for a period.
His primary passion was always the literature, history, culture, and art of Iran. His home was a gathering place for intellectuals such as Houshang Irani, Mohammad-Ali Eslami Nodoushan, Mohammad Ghazi, Jalal Al-e-Ahmad, and Simin Daneshvar. In 1963, he founded the "Iranmehr Library" publishing house with the aim of protecting the material and intellectual rights of authors and translators. His significant works include the correction and completion of Tarikh-e Beyhaqi and the collection Naqsh-ha-ye Qalamkar-e Irani (Designs of Iranian Block Printing), which he spent 25 years compiling.
The late Ehsani had a deep love for Iranian culture and art, and his personal library, containing several thousand valuable books, was a testament to this devotion. After his passing, his survivors graciously donated this precious legacy to the Central Library of the University of Kurdistan. The donated collection includes over 4,500 books and periodicals in Persian, English, French, German, and Russian.
The University of Kurdistan Supporters Foundation honors this valuable gift and will forever cherish the memory of this cultural figure.
