Duties and Responsibilities

  • Forecasting and estimating the necessary funds for ordering and purchasing books and publications required by the university libraries.
  • Preparing and reproducing audio and visual resources in various fields, such as scientific seminars and conferences, for student utilization.
  • Preserving, safeguarding, and maintaining rare books as well as historical and ancient documents available at the university.
  • Preparing periodic and necessary reports on library activities and submitting them to the competent authorities.
  • Procuring textbooks and supplementary educational resources for the various academic disciplines of the university.
  • Reviving, editing, and publishing authentic and distinguished ancient texts.
  • Exchanging books, periodicals, and documents with scientific and cultural assemblies, university centers, and domestic and international educational and research institutions.
  • Developing collaborations with national and international scientific institutions and assemblies.
  • Collecting, storing, maintaining, and providing access to scientific and technical books, journals, and publications.
  • Classifying, cataloging, and preparing books and publications to facilitate and expedite access for researchers and students.
  • Establishing communication and continuous interaction with scientific centers and assemblies, libraries, and publishing houses domestically and internationally to create an organized and efficient library system.
  • Coordinating among subsidiary libraries within faculties and academic departments, and exercising supervisory oversight over their operations.
  • Training and familiarizing newly hired staff and incoming students with the principles of librarianship and promoting a culture of reading.
  • Preparing and drafting summaries of books and scientific articles.
  • Managing all affairs related to ordering and purchasing books, publications, and other informational resources from domestic and foreign sources.
  • Performing other duties assigned by higher authorities.
