Dr. Bayazid Mardoukhi

A Brief Account of Their Rich Life

Dr. Bayazid Mardoukhi, a distinguished national economist, was born in July 1942 in Sanandaj. After obtaining his high school diploma in mathematics, he graduated with a degree in economics from the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Tehran. He then pursued further studies at the University of Maryland in the United States, completing a program in advanced economic management. Upon his return to Iran, he began his career as an industrial economics expert at the Plan and Budget Organization while simultaneously completing his Ph.D. in economics at the University of Tehran.

From 1988 to 2006, Dr. Mardoukhi taught courses on "Industrial Economics" and "Industrial Policy and Planning" at the universities of Tehran, Allameh Tabataba'i, and Tabriz. He also participated in specialized programs at the Japan Economic Planning Agency (JPA) and joint programs between the University of Tehran and the University of California. His extensive career at the Plan and Budget Organization included significant roles such as Deputy and Director of Industrial and Mining Affairs, Head of the Macroeconomics Office, and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Oil Stabilization Fund. After his retirement, he continued to serve as a consultant for prestigious institutions, including the Iranian Industrial Managers Association, the Expediency Discernment Council, and the Social Security Organization.

Dr. Mardoukhi was also active on the international stage, serving as a member of the Iranian delegation to the annual meetings of bodies such as ESCAP, UNIDO, and the World Bank. He has authored and translated numerous works on economics and futures studies, including a translation of Joan Robinson's Economic Philosophy and his own book, Methodology of Foresight.

In 2021, this esteemed philanthropist and member of the University of Kurdistan Supporters Foundation donated his personal and valuable library to the university's Central Library. The University of Kurdistan remains grateful for Dr. Bayazid Mardoukhi's tireless efforts in the development of the university.
