About the Department of Educational Sciences
History and Position
The Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Kurdistan is one of the university's most established departments, commencing its activities in 1974 with the founding of the "Sanandaj Higher Teacher Training College," an affiliate of Tehran Teacher Training University. The initial student cohorts were admitted to teacher training programs in Mathematics and Chemistry. Following the institution's elevation to university status in 1991, the Department of Educational Sciences was formally and independently established. In the early 1990s, the first undergraduate program in "Educational Management and Planning" was launched, subsequently followed by Master's programs in "Educational Management" and "Curriculum Planning." In line with developments in the higher education structure, Ph.D. programs in "Educational Management" and "Higher Education Development Planning" were introduced in the 2010s.
Fundamental Objectives and Academic Mission
The department's fundamental mission is to cultivate proficient specialists and researchers in the fields of K-12 and higher education at both provincial and national levels. This objective is supported by the University of Kurdistan's vision to transform the department into a national hub of scientific and research excellence.
