Strategic Partnership Between the University of Kurdistan and the National Agricultural Parks Company for Sustainable Development

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, a significant step towards generating sustainable revenue and advancing modern agriculture was taken in a session attended by the CEO of the National Agricultural Parks Company, members of the Executive Board of the University's Development and Investment Organization, and provincial natural resources experts.

Dr. Mansour Lahonian, Head of the University's Development and Investment Organization, opened the meeting by stating the primary objective: "to leverage the capacity of greenhouse parks and processing industries to secure sustainable financial resources" to support the university's educational, research, and technological activities. He formally submitted the university's request for the allocation of two land plots, each at least 20 hectares in size, to achieve this goal.

National Welcome and Support for the University's Initiative
Dr. Peyman Eskandari, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the National Agricultural Parks Company, emphasized the vital role of universities and knowledge-based companies in resolving energy and agricultural crises. "Universities can be the key to solving the problems in this sector," he stated. Describing agricultural parks as facilitators of investment, he highlighted the significantly higher production yields in controlled greenhouse environments.
Dr. Eskandari added, "Greenhouse products, with their year-round production capability and high export potential, play a crucial role in the economy. The export of 700,000 tons of these products in the year 1403 (2024-2025) attests to this capacity." After noting the identification of suitable locations in Kurdistan province, he announced the company's full readiness to grant the two requested land plots to the University of Kurdistan.

The meeting continued with Dr. Parviz Kafcheh expressing hope that a previously successful model of forming joint-stock companies with faculty members could be replicated in the province. Additionally, Dr. Farzad Hosseinpanahi, the University's Farm Manager, underscored the shortage of greenhouse units in Kurdistan despite the province's high potential. This session, characterized by constructive discussion, marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration that could position the University of Kurdistan as a regional model for creating sustainable financial resources and fostering knowledge-based agriculture.
