Five members of the academic faculty of the University of Kurdistan have been ranked among the top two percent most cited Iranian researchers globally. According to a report from the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, based on a comprehensive report from the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) regarding the list of highly cited Iranian researchers in the top two percent worldwide, spanning the years 1996 to 2021, five faculty members of the University of Kurdistan have made it onto this list.

As announced by the institution, the late Dr. Mohammad Reza Setareh in the field of Physics and Astronomy, Dr. Abdullah Salimi and Dr. Rahmat Sadeghi in the field of Chemistry, Dr. Hassan Biorani in Strategic Technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, etc.), and Dr. Ghobad Shafiei (former Director of International Affairs at the university) in the field of Engineering have all been included in this list.

This list encompasses highly cited authors based on a composite citation index and constitutes the top two percent most cited within 22 main subject areas and 174 subfields.
